Sixth Grade Sneak Preview November 3-7

As many of the students already know and some of the parents I am going to be out on maternity leave due to a medical condition until the first week in February. I will still continue to work closely with Sr. Antonia as she covers my medical leave. I will continue to my own lesson plans for her and she will follow the NYS curriculum! She is a wonderful teacher!

Looking at our week in

6th Grade

Week of November 3, 2014

Sr. Becky, Sr. Antonia, Sr. Arshia and Sr. Bonnie

This week in ELA we will be continuing our unit on Greek Mythology and The Lightning Thief. Students will work on multi-paragraph writing. Now that I am out on maternity leave Sr. Antonia will be taking over for my classes. She is an excellent teacher and I will still be creating the lesson plans weekly for her and she will continue to follow along with engageny!

This week we will continue to learn about cells and functions of the different organelles. Each student will start making their own model of plant/animal cell and we will need some monetary donations in order to purchase supplies.

Please kindly donate $2-$5 for the supplies.

We are approaching the end of our module. This is a very long unit, and there are parts that students do not understand. I have stepped back this week to ensure they understand. In isolation, the sixth graders understand the concepts, however, when in application they tend to get confused. They were given a large review packet at the beginning of the week to complete by Monday. It is my hope, that we will spend a couple days reviewing and finish up this unit by the end of next week. As always, I welcome you to contact me with any questions or concerns @
