As many of the students already know and some of the parents I am going to be out on maternity leave due to a medical condition until the first week in February. I will still continue to work closely with Sr. Antonia as she covers my medical leave. I will continue to my own lesson plans for her and she will follow the NYS curriculum! She is a wonderful teacher!
Looking at our week in

ELA
This week in ELA we will be continuing our unit on Esperanza Rising. The students are doing so well on their homework as well as in class answering text dependent questions. We will continue close reading as well as text dependent questioning. Our mid-unit assessment is Monday! Now that I am out on Maternity leave Sr. Antonia will be taking over for my classes until I return. She is an excellent teacher and I will still be creating the lesson plans weekly for her and she will continue to follow along with engageny! |

Science
This week we will continue to learn about cells and functions of the different organelles. Each student will start making their own model of plant/animal cell and we will need some monetary donations in order to purchase supplies. Please kindly donate $2-$5 for the supplies. If you have any questions/concerns you may reach me at arshia10@yahoo.com. |
Math
The fifth graders are doing very well with the multi digit multiplication. Ultimately, I would like the class to use standard algorithm, however, for now they are able to do the math anyway they chose as so they understand the material. What I am most concern with, is that some of the students are not showing their work. This affects their ability to get the correct answer. If you see your child doing their homework, please remind them to show their work. Next week we will continue to work with multiplying larger numbers. I am confident that students will be successful with the material. As always, I welcome you to contact me with any questions or concerns @ bonniemalley77@gmail.com. |
